hi all, i am trying to buy what appears to be a 944 turbo S, the car is abroad so havent seen it. the guy selling says he cant find it. i have told him to look under letter P battery box side of head in usual place that the code is stamped.
could it be somewhere else ,if so where?
is there an easy way to identify the engine(for this guy), option code sticker says it is, but no way to know if engine has been swapped out.
hope you can help i'm keen to buy it.

It is stamped into a small shelf near the back of the engine block, where the head meets the block, on the left hand side (passenger side in the USA). That shelf has a tendency to collect oil and grime, so he may have to clean it with a shop towel to find it. Earlier years had it stamped near the top of the block on the opposite side.

A real turbo S will have engine type M44.52
