Fender Liners

After working on my electric antenna I noticed all the debris and road tar accumulated in the rear lower edges of the front fender wells. Did later 944's come with a plastic liner like most cars and if so can they be adapted to early 944's? That sticky glob from a freshly chip sealed road was a mess to get out of there. I've never seen them in any of my catalogs. It would sure save on cleanup if they are available.
Thanks,
Steve

Thanks,
Looks like a trip to the graveyard is in store unless they are catalogged through some supplier unknown to me. It would be worth the $$$ to keep snow/ice from packing in there and destroying the new electric antenna.

I have a set also from an 86. Was going to use the 86 front group on the 83 to replace a bent fender and tweaked spoiler. Was going to use self tapping screws.
Then was rear ended on PCH. Now I don't know. Might just find a newer body with a blown engine.

Yes the 83 has a simple plastic mud flap covering the electric antenna.
The 86 fenders do not have the cut out for the antenna so I bought one of the roof style swept antennas. The plastic fender liners are impressive. Has to add at least 30 pounds to the front of the car.

SoCal,
Are the liners on your 83 a "full" fender type or just behind the wheel? Adding another 30 pounds to the front is making that duct tape sound pretty good. Does yours simple flap attach with the mentioned body tabs? The only added tabs on mine are for the lower antenna bracket and charcoal canister. Wish there were more 944's around here to snoop at. A deflector is all I should need to keep that area cleaner. Thanks to all for the input.

I'll have to go check now. Think the flap is/was attached to the charcoal canister. Might be confusing this with the flaps at the front of the fender well intended to keep the air flow through the radiator.
The plastic liners remove road noise as well as keeping the fenders smooth by stopping road debris.
Was thinking I would have to get the 86 fenders undercoated when I put them on.
