Default proper transmission cooler

Running advanced DE and open track days. Found a few old threads on trans oil coolers and need/want to see what you guys are running as coolers. Thoughts, pics, suggestions appreciated.

Thanks guys!
Dwane

Looking for a Guard LSD as well.

Dwayne, i have seen a setup from a guy local to me. The fill and the drain plugs were removed and replaced with metric to AN adapters. A Tilton oil cooler pump is used on the drain plug side and pushes fluid through a cooler then back through the fill. The cooler is a generic bar and plate.

Here's how I did it. An RX7 oil cooler where the spare tire well used to be. Tilton pump on a thermal switch and a check valve.

Dwane,

Get hold of Mathieu Savard with the Rothmans 944 in our series,he has the proper (expensive) setup with a NACA duct cooling scoop and cooler shroud.

I might have some pictures as i was thinking of doing the same ...

Cheers
Phil

Van, how do you get airflow over the radiator in your set-up? Looks like it is flush to the floor tray.

Default NACA ducts

Van,

What is the diameter of the inlet hose on your ducts? Did you use the same on the inlet and outlet size?

Thanks,

Don

Instead the tilton pump etc ?

Start by measuring the temperature of your fluid after a session to determine whether you have a cooling issue. No sense in adding a cooler unnecessarily, unless you're looking for quality time in the garage. There is a school of thought that says the cooler is an unnecessary point of failure that can dump fluid when it breaks and make you all kinds of new friends.
