Default GOT THE KRICKET, Where the heck can you use it????

I bought one of those Kircket belt tools from NAPA. I cannot see how a reading can be taken from the timming belt with the rear belt cover in place. Has anyone ever used it with the cover on?

On the cam belt you have to remove the top idler and it will just fit and for the balance belt it can fit just below the water pump, that idler must be removed also.

Super Dave-

Kriket can be used with the rear belt cover on. You do need to remove the upper roller (along the longest straight span between the crank pulley and the cam pulley) to get a true reading. Check out this site for some good pix and tips.

Does anyone know the NAPA part number? Every NAPA I've called has no idea what I am asking for.

I believe the part # is KR-1 or KR-2...i dont remember which.

Edit - I just looked it up...the part is KR-2 or 'Kricket II'. the KR-1 is not supposed to be used with the type of belt the 944 uses, maybe because its ribbed?

Make sure you get the Kricket-1 tool... If you don't have a NAPA nearby, can also order one from here: http://www.hmc-international.com/krikit.htm
