Question Tank Gauge Problem

The fuel gauge on my '94 968 Cabriolet has suddenly stopped working correctly. It reads 7/8 no matter how much gas is in the tank. However, when the ignition is turned off, the fuel gauge drops to zero. Given these symptoms, I'm guessing the float in the gas tank is stuck. I've read these can be removed, cleaned and reinstalled. Problem is, I don't know where it is.

Can someone tell me how to access the tank gauge on a 968 Cab?

Thanks -

It's under the floor of the trunk area near the passenger side shock tower. There's a metal mesh looking fabric cover over the sender. Disconnect the hoses from the sender, turn the 4" collar nut that loosens the sender and carefully, pull it out. It's pretty clear on how it works and where it would hang up, if indeed that's what's going on. Make sure the tank isn't full when you do this or you'll have a lot of gasoline all over the place.
