Default My 944 won't start

I'm having a problem with my 944 (1983). I turn it on, drive for a while, and then sometimes it shuts off on me, even in traffic lights. And then I have to wait a little bit before firing it back up. Sometimes it won't start at all.
Thanx for the advice.

Could you please give us something more to go on?

Does it sound as if it is going to die? Do you hear it struggling?

When it doesn't start back up, is it trying to turn over?

When it dies when you are driving along, is it coasting, at what speeds, how does it die?

Speed and reference sensors. Recent posts have discussed cracked connectors that cause intermintent contact with the wires.

This will cause the car to die unpredictably. Have to use an ohm meter and wiggle the wires and connectors to check.

Could be broken solder joints in the DME too. Have to take it appart and check very carefully and resolder any that are or even look bad.

I agree with SoCal. These cars are 20 years old now, and after so many heat cycles the rubber connectors for the speed reference sensors are brittle and don't hold contact as well. I had to replace one on the 83 last year after the connector literally disintegrated after leaning on it while changing the heater control valve. Not cheap, either!
