Anyone going to the United States Grand Prix.
Who all is going to the Formula 1 race at Indy at the end of Sep. Trying to finalize plans and decide which lot to park the RV in. Anyone know which lot is best for RV's. Looks like either Lot 3 by the Brickyard Inn or Lot 6 on Georgetown road by the Paddock. I have never been there for the USGP, heard it is a lot calmer than the Indy 500. The Indy 500 was like Mardi Gras, pretty wild.... Where is all the action for the USGP.
Go Ferrari....
Sorry can't root for Porsche, though I will be flying my Porsche flag on the RV.

I like Two Trees best, it's like a park compared to most of the others and it's across the road from the track. All the others are big gravel parking lots with very little space btween RVs.
At Two Trees you get a large space, grass and lots of trees for shade. God knows why they call it "Two" Trees.
A cop we were talking to said it's very tame compared to the 500. The strangest thing I saw was a guy selling adult Depends on race day. Well, those giant smoked turkey drumsticks are a little strange too, and the peeler bars are wild. Not that I went into any.
The good parties are downtown, a buddy of mine crashed a few of them.

Yep. But Sunday only, a'la Perry951.
Lookin' to park the 944 in the PCA corral in the track infield, so if you're docked with your RV outside the gates, I'll have to find a place to park to meet prior to the race. I don't think they let you go out and come back in---but not positive.
Maybe after the race while traffic is clearing, I can find my way over to the RV...and as always, I'm damn happy to meet other Rennlisters. Keep me posted on your final location.
Thanks Ringo!

Yep, my brother and I will be there, too. Also flying the Porsche flag above the RV. We were in lot 2 last year, (it is across Gergetown, behind the main grandstands) and there were spots in there that approached Mardi Gras-like last year. We'll also be doing the guitar-by-the-campfire thing with some other musicians I know there at least one night. We're gonna have to hook up somehow guys. I thought Ian said he was going to be there, too, and maybe some others I saw in a previous thread. We are going over on Wednesday. Maybe trade cell numbers for contact? Suggestions?

If anyone is interested in tickets, I know someone who is selling them in "J section", good seats at the end of the main straight where they enter the infield in turn one. Eighty five dollars each, including the walk thru pass for the paddock on Thurs. morning.

No hookups, but if you have a gennie in your RV you're OK. A water truck came by once, and we let the grey water tank drip slowly into the grass. Lot's of room on your space for extra tents too.
Nice relaxing spot after a long day trekking around at the track and in the bars.
Not sure how ticket sales are this year but in year one my buddy picked up great seats half price from someone (not a scalper) selling at the gate. There was a lot of that.

Ok, I have everything finalized. I am staying in Lot 6 right across from the Paddock on Georgetown rd. There are a lot of trees in this lot. I will get in on Thurs morning. Let me know what days you guys will be around and swing by if you want. If I know of a night where several people want to come by I can do a big pot of Chicken and Andouille Gumbo. Cest Bon...
This is where Lot 6 is.
This is what the RV looks like. I will be flying a Porsche, and a Ferrari flag, and it has Louisiana Plates on the back.

Nice ride Ringo. Will be on the lookout and also look into whether we can get a pass out before the race starts to meet up in the morning. If not, I think I am in grandstand H or edge of grandstand J, so I'm right across the street.
Thanks for the invite and see you, Wade, Perry951 and the other Ohio Rennlisters next Sunday.

Nice RV, Ringo. I am going over on Wednesday night, will be next to you in Lot 2. We are usually in the little "panhandle" of the lot that is just across the fence from Crawfordsville Rd. I'll wander over and say hey on Thursday sometime.
