Ringo, We usually park in the Coke lot and enter the track at the NW gates. I'll try to do a drive-by on your rolling hilton Sometime on Saturday. -Bryan

Thanks guys.

Jerry I think once you go in you can't go back out. If you want to, drop by after the race. Are all of you that are parking inside in the Porsche corral parking together.

Wade Sounds good. We'll be there all weekend. I am not bringing a car so we should be somewhere around most of the time.

bpp944 Bryan Are you camping in the coke lot, if so when are you getting in. That is Lot 1. That is where we parked the RV for the INDY 500. That was wild.

I'll be arriving on Saturday, I can't miss the Ferrari challange or the porsche Supercup races.

We tailgate at the coke lot and have been parking there for the 500 since ’96. (Their is always something interesting happening there.)

(Two years ago at the 500 we witnessed someone try to drive his brand-new Toyota land cruiser through one of the coke lot’s 10ft deep drainage ditches to circumvent parking traffic. It took two tow trucks to drag his 4x4 out of the ditch while 50-75 bystanders’s heckled the driver! )

I'm gonna burst your bubble this year, but there is NO Ferrari Challenge for 2003 unless they are not showing it on the schedule. Porsche Supercup race--yes, but Ferrari Challenge-no.

http://www.usgpindy.com/schedule/

I checked the speedway and other schedules and no challenge listed.
Tis' a shame, as I thought that the FC was the best entertainment for the buck every year, especially year 1 in the rain, and last year with its demolition derby type antics.
If anyone finds anything to the contrary, please post or send a PM.
Long live the "gentleman racer"--and here's hoping the FC returns next year!

Hey Sam, that isn't such a bad idea. I've had opportunities to buy some good grandstand tickets, better than the ones I posted earlier in this thread. But we are doing the general admission thing this year, too. There are some good places you can watch like that. We will be on the small observation mound by the backstretch (Tony Hulman Blvd.) If you bring chairs to that area early in the day and stake them down to mark your territory, it's not a bad spot. It's close to Port-O-Lets, and you don't have to walk over everyone in your section when you have to go, and because of the beer, of course, you gotta' go, and go, and.........

Ringo, I thought about going but my father-in-law, who has a lot of Citgo applications, got VIP passes, PIT passes, and Rousch Racing Hospitality tent passes for Talledega that same weekend; can't pass that up! I'll be in ALABAMA. Nothing like the F1 sound though! I WILL be at US Grand Prix next year.

Sounds like several people will be up the Sat before the race. If enough people want to come by that night I can do a big batch of Gumbo. I just need to know ahead of time, as it takes about 3 hours to cook that. I posted a map of where I will be parking the RV on the first page of this thread.

Sam are you coming down in your car, would be good to finally see that nice example.

Wade That is exactly what I think we are doing as far as seats for the actual race. Get with me on Fri. or Sat. maybe we can all sit around the same area. I know of a few other guys coming from our way who are doing this also. I've got my ice chest on wheels ready.

ELLSSUU I don't want to hear it, you were supposed to be coming with us.
No really sorry you can't make it. We'll have fun for you, and take lots of pics.

Ski Sounds like a good time, have fun. You need to get down our way and go for a run some time.

Looks like I'm getting in late on this thread. Either way my group will be pulling into the area about 11:00 Saturday Morning. Another friend of mine usually parks his RV in the same area as you, he still calls it the "two trees" lot. His RV is guarded by a German Shepard and the RV is named "Dog House" on the plates.

We buy tickets the day off. Just GA tickets. Spending most of the summer at Road America, I cannot watch a race from grandstands.

I'll definitely be dropping by Ringo but this should give a better idea that this may be where you're talking about. Since you are not committed to reserved seats until raceday, we check out a few vantage points until then and then stake out the infield spot on Sun. In my opinion "J" seats are the best and we watch alot from there. The main grandstands are cool to see garage/pit activities with the binoculars. And we are usually at the camp when there is no track activity and when the strip club on the other side of the fence is closed.
