Default Car bottomed out...

Not the Porsche, the Audi...

I was have a spirited drive home the other night and the road was full of twisties. At one point there were a bunch of elevation changes and the car bottomed out. They were severe elev. changes, but the constant change kept adding to the travel of the suspension until it hit bottom.

What can I do to keep that from happening again. Stiffer springs or are my struts worn out after 55k miles?

Should I put Konis on or will springs take care of it? How much ride comfort will I lose?

Try installing some carbon fiber mirrors.

Springs support the car ... shocks dampen the spring movement to keep them from bouncing up and down. So I'd say get stiffer springs...

You'll also want to know if the shocks you have now can handle the new springs, or if you need to replace them as well. If they're adjustable you are probably OK.

Just replacing the shocks is not going to do much good except if the stock ones have too soft rebound. I know this is the case in my dad's Passat, which apparently shares a lot of parts with the A4...

And a Carbon Fiber wing with a fart can. Those WILL solve your problems. The wing will keep the car from hitting bottom b/c the airflow over the poorly designed wing will acutally LIFT the car. If you have the fart can installed at a downward angle, the velocity of the exhaust will help keep the rear of the car off the road. HTH

Thank you for actaully helping. Is there a certain spring rate that I should get? 225lb or something.

A wide (about 14") contrasting colour painted along the the car from front to back has been known to work wonders.
Mine only bottoms out when it's fully loaded with all the holiday luggage on very fast left hand bends at the bottom of a steep hill.

You guys are really a pain in the ***, you should be giving this poor guy some constructive advice, not BSing him.

Personally, I suggest putting less gas in your tank. That will raise your ride height.
