I need (I think) a wiper motor for an 88'. The best price I have found online so far is 944online for a used one at $150. I found a new one for $230, which if these are my two options I will pay the extra for a new one if it comes down to it. Anyone know of anything better? The junk yards around here are no help.
I have tested as much as I can.. I can hear the intermittent relay trip, so I know it is getting power to there, so that should eliminate the column switch. I did the jumper from 87 to 30 trick on the X relay. Which pin(s)/wires should I check on the motor itself for current?
Thanks (no rain for like 90 days and now it won't stop!)

You may be able to take the "switch" part of the wiper motor off and clean the copper wipers. It's part of the cover plate for the worm gear reduction.
The copper wipers travel across simi-circular contacts. The grease and wear in the gear reduction does tend to crud up the surfaces.

Is it just dielectric grease between the wire and contacts? I hear these motors are a pain to pull out, but have not found any docs online about the process.

Have to pull the fresh air box. Kind of a pain. Pulling the wiper assembly can be challenging as you may crack the windshield.
I pulled one from an 86 I parted out. Was able to do a bit of grinding on the wiper housing, transfer the electrical connector and get it to work on the 83. Nice to have a fast speed that's fast.
Get a copy of the factory workshop manuals. Can be found as PDF's on CDR.

Nice call on cleaning the contacts. I pulled both wiper arms and the nuts holding the linkage in. I was able to drop the motor back enough to get to that top screw hidden behind the windshield without pulling the fresh air box. One of the copper "blades" seems bent back. I cleaned them all up, redistributed the grease and push it back into the worm drive, sanded down the ground contacts and coated the ground with some dielectric grease for good measure.
I flipped the switch and nothing.. said crap and hit the motor with a screw driver and it kicked right off. I am sure if I would have just cut myself and bled on it, it would have worked as well.
Thanks for the tip! We'll see how long this lasts. The motor is very clean inside and out, so I can't tell if it has been replaced before or not.
