these option codes come standard on a turbo s (just looked it up) the seats are in there as well as the sound system:

M030 Sport chassis
M490 Hi-fi sound package
M220 Limited slip differential
M526 Cloth door panels
M288 Headlight washers
M593 Antilock Brack System
M418 Protective side mouldings
M650 Removeable/tilting sunroof
M425 Rear window wiper
M685 Split rear seat
M437 8-way power seat, left
M990 Cloth seats
M438 8-way power seat, right
M454 Cruise control

they also came standard with forged clubsport (d90) wheels.

so there you go. all the stuff he listed comes on every turbo s (except for the color combo of course)

Thanks, I knew most of that stuff was standard, just not the seats or the 10 speaker.

All in all if that car goes for $8K and it's mechanically sound, someone got a great deal.

Well, the headlight washers, 8 way seats and split rear seat were standard in the 88TS, but they sure were NOT standard in the 89 T.
Another reason why the 89 T isn't a TS..

There is a difference between the D90's (which are cast) and the forged club sports.

Also, not to pee in anybody's cornflakes here, but the option codes sticker he presented a picture of is a well-optioned turbo, non-S. The engine code on line 4 (just above the paint code) is clearly 51, and 88 turbo S's and 89 turbos will list that code as 52. The correct engine code being M44/52.

It still looks like a very nice car, and it was very well-optioned, but it is not a turbo S.

Well, seeing as it's listed on Rennlist and seeing as this community is quite technically proficient, listing a car as a Turbo S when in fact it's not officially a Turbo S, that could present a problem...

So it has all the S options plus leather seats, but it's not an S. Still seems like a good way to option the car. And for $8K it's a screaming deal. Why am I not all over this?
Oh yeah, see the previous "outta work" thread

It wouldn't have the K26/8 turbo, it would still be the 220 bhp k26/6. The transmissions and torque tube were slightly different for the S's, and I think those benefits would not be on this car.

I agree it would appear to be a good example of a regular 951. A buyer's market at the moment, I'm afraid.

I wish I could see the odometer in the pictures -- that car was advertised with 188K miles (rather than 118K miles) earlier this month:

Has someone run a carfax on it?

I figured you knew the difference. (They do look only slightly different.) The spokes on the club sports come out to the edge of the rims, where the D90's have just a very slight rim. It's a slight visual difference, and we definitely suffer the same porsche affliction to be concerned with such detail.

Does this mean it's 217 horsepower, rather than 250?

This MAY WELL be a real TurboS - the "51" mentioned above does NOT mean it is not a TurboS - my 88TS also reads "51" and it definitely is a TurboS with a M44/52 engine block and all the other stuff. It DOES have the AOR transmission that only came on the TurboS - hardened 1st, 2nd gears, transmission cooler, and those option codes include everything EXCEPT the all important option code 758 Special Model 944 Turbo 1988.

So, AOR transmission that only came on the TurboS, but no code 758.... well just to really throw it all in a loop - the tail sticker in my car (and service book) DOES NOT LIST ANY OPTIONS AT ALL! NONE! NADA! I ended up calling PCNA to get the real build story on the VIN and they confirmed that my car is a 1988 TurboS. They could easily match the body stamped serial and engine serial to be factory matched.

I surmise that sales were slowing already in 1988 and a body shells must have been set aside and production lines were not always set up to build and document low volume specialty models. PCNA advised that some cars were never fully tail tagged - for mysterious reasons, and not to fret about it. So short of a physical inspection to look for the rolled fender lips, extra bracing, and the M44/52 engine block there is no way to really confirm!

Blame it all on low volume production and the availability of too much beer in the vending machines at the factory.....

BTW, it would be a tough fit on a non TS body shell with those wider forged rims - 7" at the front, but 9" in the rear - they would definitely rub on a shell that did not have rolled lips (although a baseball bat could solve that too)!
