Yep, you got it. A stuck lifter would be, the hydraulic plunger that is supposed to be filled with oil and reinforced with a spring to dampen and quiet the lifter, is frozen or seized. Usually they just make a little noise, should be ok, but also should be replaced. Sorry for the thread hijack Fishey.
