Speedometer night lites
I changed the speedocable on my speedometer yesterday and just noticed that the speedometer light only works on half the speedo face. I guess i may have assembled it wrong, or maybe i blew out the lights? Is the light that shows on the face of the speedo inside the speedo itself or is it part of dash housing?

You should do a search for dash lighting. It is a pretty easy fix, and also easy to upgrade. You can do it with 3M aluminum tape and a bit of elbow grease. There is also a tutorial around somewhere on upgrading to LEDs.

I think you blew one of the bulbs.
I did this on my last speedo cable change.
There are holes on the back of the speedo, where the lights get inserted into. The other possibility is that that light was remove and not re-inserted, so you are illuminating the inside of the dash, instead of the speedo face.
I guess removing it a second time will be good practice. That's what I'm doing tonight.

Im pretty sure its just a blown light..what type of light will i need? Readily available at Pepboys or something similar i hope. I think i may also swap the position of the tach and the speedo (yea i know i drive an automatic) just because i think that would look cooler. I hardly ever look at the speedo anymore...having to rely just on the tach for 6 months to determine how fast you are going i just know what rpm levels are what speeds.

you blew one of the lights. its a # 74 bulb, and with my discount about $.89 apiece. pita to change, i've had to do like 5 in the past month... and im putting 924S guages in soon. joy joy. hopefully i wont burn out any more in the process. water he has early style guages, (early 944/87 and 88 924S), which have separate bulbs for each guage, on the speedo and tach they are 2 each, and many different on the other guage, with one large on lighting up the rest of it.
