Sami's right about Mandrake. I've never tried it, but for a novice, it's probably the best distro. It'll pretty much install itself in a semi-idiot proof setup. Then as you get more experienced, you can upgrade to a better distro. I actually started using red hat years ago, then upgraded to debian. I now use gentoo, because it's a source based distro (meaning when I type "emerge openoffice", it downloads all the source and compiles it for me, optimized for speed on my hardware).

It was reverse engineered for UNIX. Check out http://www.rdesktop.org/ . Or get the RPM from http://speakeasy.rpmfind.net/linux/RPM/Terminals.html

I'm downloading it now to try it out in my lab.
