Ok, all I want to do is check my timing belt's condition. Do I just remove the timing belt plastic cover in front? Do I need to remove anything else to get the cover off ?

Remove the air box and the AFM. Just unplug the AFM, loosen the J-tube clamp and leave the AFM bolted to the airbox. Remove the 10mm bolts on the front cover and with a few wiggles it will come right out.

theres 3 things I would/ have done
1> look where the distributor is, there should be a little plastic cober where the belt is, pull this off, and check
2> yes remove the 6 bolts and remove the cover this gives good indication as to both belts
3> if you can (its quite easy) remove the rocker/cam cover, and exaine the chain and plastic peice underneath it
