Thanks so much for the speedy replies.

I opened up the housing over the timing belt...its still there
as for rotating the cam? i dont know where i would even start to do something like that...anyone have any idea where i would place my wrench in order to test that?

Thanks,
Branden

Branden:

I would recommend turning the crank shaft to see if the cam rotates. You will need a 24mm socket and a very short extension on a 1/2" drive rachet to do this. Removing the spark plugs will make it easier and let you know if the engine still has compression.

Branden,

You know where the distributor cap is? Look around that area for a rubber plug or a hole. (If a rubber plug is there, pull it out). Then look in there while you rotate the engine by hand. You should see the distributor moving, along with all the belts if you look at those when you turn the engine over as well.
