DIY early dashboard restoration megathread

For those that have done the "resurfacing" of their dashboards, did you end up going over the refoamed areas with something like the polyvance padded dash filler or a flexible bondo before applying the vinyl? I have fixed most of the cracks on mine with the spray foam but am wondering whether I should surface the bare foam with some sort of material to smooth it out even more?

we have been now selling many many many of the new factory dashes Porsche has brought in from Germany. They are all black but we dye them for the different colors when restoring the cars in our shop. Perfect fit, perfect look, thanks Porsche for reintroducing them to the market

Thanks for the info...I am aware of the new dashes availability. I have about $50-60 total in this one so far and a new dash is about what I paid for my "project" 944 so not sure it deserves a $1300+ dash yet.
