Doing my plug changes and had a hard time pulling the damn boots of the plugs. As I was pulling plug 3...Snap! broke in half (where the wire meets the boot)..I said, ****..I know how much these wires cost and could not find them in stock at Pep Boys or Kragen (the sell them for $220)...I needed the car to be driven soon, so what I did was get an NGK 8mm blue wire from a Datsun 280ZX from the junkyard (there were no 44's there).
To my surprise, the wire fit the distrib perfectly. The car ran perfect.
Now who needs stinkin' $200 wires? The only thing about the ngk's are that they dont cover the plug holes (I guess for water seal) as the OEM does. However, if you desperately need wires just use a regular NGK's and you are set. It is only like 30-40 bux.

My wire boots over the spark plug hole makes a 90 degree turn on the plastic before the wire connects. So when I remove it, I can pull directly on the boot (instead of the wire) right where the 90 degree bend is.
It's always tough finding parts for these cars... every vendor has "stong points", where they have good prices on certain parts.
For wires... I got mine at Zims (www.allzim.com) near Dallas, Texas. They have a special for a NA wire set for $99.95.

The wires on the BERU set screw into the end connectors. In most cases you can reuse the ends and just make up new wires with the screw ends.
If you break an end you can buy these seperately. Keeps the cost of the plug wires down. Any 7mm outter and 16 gauge stranded inner wire will work on the 944. The wire comes in colors too. Don't have to stay with black.
If you would make the trip out to Costa Mesa I can show you how to repair this. May even have enough stock wire and threaded ends to replace what you pulled apart.
