Default ASAP: Need help with some #@$&! cool Sport Classic II's on my car

I just picked up dmoffitt's old wheels for my car. They're definately the best looking wheels I can put on my car. You guys aren't gonna be able to wait to see these pictures.

However, before any pictures, I have some trouble making them fit. You see, the hub centric thing on the front wheels sticks out too much for the sport classic II's and it doesn't get a tight fit. The inner lip (under where the center cap goes) sticks in too far and it doesn't let the wheel actually seat against the spindle. I could take a picture, but if you think about it real hard, you'll get a pretty good mental picture anyway (except your mental picture of my wheels wouldn't be as COOL as my wheels really are... just wait, you'll see).

I'm leaving for school next week, but I really want to mount these new rims on the front before I leave. Has anyone mounted Sport Classic II's (18" 7.5in width) on the front wheels of their car?

Is there a spacer I can get to fill the gap? Can I just file down that hub thing (it can't be THAT useful...)?

Thanks!

What's the front wheel ET? 55 or more..?

I'm quite sure you can use a small spacer to fix this problem.

I put ATP's on my 944 and had the same problem. The hubcentric front adapters wouldn't sit flush. I took them to a machine shop and had them bore out just a tiny bit and that did the trick. Good luck

You need a 1/4" spacer. That will make it clear and it won't be enough to necessitate longer studs.

Hope that helps.

Measure how much shorter the hubcentric thingies need to be and then either have them machined down that much or add a spacer for that much.

You can just bolt it up and measure, or see how many washers it takes for the wheel to fit correctly. You can actually drive with the washers temporarily, but its not recommended for track use...to say the least.

Doing it with washers will let you get the car on the ground and make sure it wont rub with the wheel pushed out that much. That way you wont waste $$ on spacers if you go that route.

You'll get the pictures once I get the wheels mounted. ;-) Hopefully I can do it before I go back to school.. the car looks at least 5 years newer with them on.

I called wheel enhancement and they told me I needed 1/4" wheel spacers for the fronts. Does anyone know where I can get 2 1/4" wheel spacers locally (I'm in the philly area), or can I have anyplace deliever them by early next week?

Thanks

Try the dealer, but get ready to get ripped off.

There was a guy on the wheels forum that posted that he had a bunch of spacers a little while back...maybe he has what you'r elooking for.

I got my 3/16" universal spacers from the local napa type auto store. Ask for Mr. Gasket brand. About $8/ pr. It's popular with the autox gang.

I've got a buddy with a machine shop getting a set ready for me. I'll have some cool custom aluminum wheel spacers in about an hour.. I should have some pictures by next week.

She needs a bath before she shows off
