Why does my '79 924 have a boost guage?
Ok, my newely aquired 79 924 has a boost guage in it, but I don't see a turbo in the engine bay! Is this just a manifold vacuum gage of something? It reads from 0/1 to 10 Bar, what the hell is this?

At 10bars, it's definitely not a boost gauge!

Some ricer kid probably owned the car before you, and installed it to look cool.

With 10 bar, I wonder if it's an oil pressure gauge...

I was thinking maybe oil, but that seems high, mine only goes to 5bar.

I've seen aftermarket oil gauges go up to 10 bar /150 psi, so they are out there. I'm assuming, of course, that this is an aftermarket gauge...

You may have an early 931 . look for the turbo on the opposite side of where the 951 's is. Thats the passenger side. Unlike the 951 the turbo 931 turbo is hard to see as it is buried down low.

I've still never seen mine.
If it's a 931, shouldn't the VIN have the appropriate sequence?
Carfax it and see if it comes up turbo.

If it's a 79 it's not a Turbo unless it's a Euro model. I think you're mistaken, it's just an oil pressure guage, my 82 has a guage that goes to 10 bar, and it's oil pressure. (Left on the 3 guage cluster)
