Default Gas

I was wondering if anyone could help answer this. When I get gas at like sheetz my milage is less then if I go to BP, so my question is why? Same octane too. I was wondering if shell would be a better gas to get because they say you get better milage. Should we start a poll and see who uses what gas and their milage. I have noticed this,

Sheetz ~22.3 mpg

BP ~23.9 mpg

Can anyone else add to this list with differences. Thanks

There is little difference in fuels from major corps (Shell, BP, Amaco, etc). The difference is in the additives and cleaner agents. Sometimes, the Quickie Marts can have suspect fuel depending on their source.

The fuel may acually be older and sitting in the tank for a while before you get it . I have used 90 octane from several different sources, (BP, Shell, generic) and I havent really noticed any difference in mileage unless I step down to a lower octane fuel. There was a thread last year with gas comparisons and different blends of fuel .. It may still be around in the archives..

Sheetz + Gas Stay away from Quickie mart food.

I couldnt help it.. I tried, but i couldnt.

If you're going to try to compare like that, get a large sample (at least a few months worth) from each station, to balance out extremes like a spirited driving day, or excessively hot/cold weather.
The best thing to do would be look for a more scientific comparison that's already been done on the internet somewhere.

I'm jealous that you can actually find gas at multiple stations! Half the stations near my house are closed. The other half have one or two pumps open (and half hour waits).

all gas comes from ONE PIPELINE!!!!!!
the difference is they add addatives to the tanker trucks then fill the tanks.

Gas station tanks can be different though, water ect...
