This is why I never park near anyone if possible. I don't trust anyone, because many people take offense to someone else who has something nicer than them and want to ruin it. Ugh, I hate people who are jealous of a car. Ok, rant mode off, for now...

If not, you might try warming them up with a regular hair dryer to "relieve" the stress before the plastic takes the set. You might get lucky and they pop back to their original shape without damage to the paint.

Luckily it all popped back into shape. I'll just have to track down a bumper shock sometime. Saturday I'll be putting the car in storage anyway, so it's not that big of a deal. I'm just glad it did no permanent damage.

From: Central Illinois. Cornfields a plenty.
When my front bumper was hit, I didnt remove the piston- just used a large screwdriver and worked it back and forth until the piston returned to it's original position.
Hope this helps..
ILP- That SUCKS dude. Hope it all goes back together ok.

NO no use the prybar to spin the shock. Bolt the shock back onto the car with the two 13mm bolts, stick a prybar through the big hole in the end of the shock. Then use the prybar to rotate the center shock part on its axis. As you spin it, the spring pressure will push it back out. THen just center the hole back to where the big bumper bolt will go through the bumper AND the shock. Did it two times myself

Just an FYI, IF you can take a sample of the paint, ie. the part that is damaged to an automotive paint dealer they can usually match it up. They just need a sample.. That is how I get my touch up paint as I do not have a porsche color. That is how most paint shops are able to do spot paint..
