Default OT: I HATE Pontiac/Cavalier Engines...

I'm sure no one cares, but as the title reads, my friend Peter and I had an experience putting an alternator and a serpentine on his girlfriend's Pontiac Sunfire (2.2 4 Cyl) yesterday. It took me about 45mins. to get the things off, and it took us about 3 hours to get them back on. The tensioner on these cars doesn't release enough tension and there's hardly enough space to get anything small enough down there to release the tension anyway. I'm sure no one cares, I'm just letting everyone know that they suck, and can all go to hell.

Chevy Cavalier: It's not a car, it's an appliance.

Yeah, this one's a '98, and the alternator was shot. I would think it would've lasted longer.

Hey check my sig. BTW I can't stand wrenching on those damn things. Even if they are hard to kill.

My wife ran it with the crankcase FULL like 2-3 inches up the dipstick with gas in the oil and the darn thing didn't throw a rod.

I had one as a company car. I hated that thing with a passion. It never would die either. I even ran it 3 quarts low on oil and that didn't affect it.
Luckily it was rear ended by a Jeep Cherokee and totaled.

Impressive, my g/f did something similar to her old (2nd gen) Prelude. When we changed the oil it had around 6 quarts in it, it's capacity is only 3.6!!

Mine has about 140,000KMs on it, and this used to be a regular occurance and the staple of my rallye experience:

No matter WHAT I do to it, it won't die. The ball bearings are starting to grind now but that's it!!!
