Ok so it's now out, baffles me that it came loose even despite my clumsy hands when pulling fuel rail, it did clip onto injector very tightly.

I used a 1/2" OD (3/8" ID) hose with a dab of grease inside the tip, hooked up to a handheld vacuum (very little force was needed), the cap stayed captive when pulling up. What a relief...
