Ditto. I like my quattro, living in Wisconsin I have one of the nicest "winter beaters" of anyone I know. I store the damn thing for summer.

I can't remember what team in the 70's played with AWD in F1 and the sanctioning body at the time said no way and it was dropped.

AWD was played with at the INDY 500 years ago, there too it was banned.

AWD is seen as an unfair advantage in most forms of racing. Reason why I like the Speed GT series. Back to production based cars, the way racing should be. The GTS cars are fun to watch but does anybody really believe those Corvettes have anything in common other than looks of a street version? Maybe parts of the chassis. Don't even get me started on Nascar.

if you want something fast try this

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2427751503

They are awesome cars and the motor is bulletproof, it's pretty easy to get to 500HP and will take a 150 shot of NOS (I have one - see link in my profile). I can run 11.8's all day on the track and still pull .99G in a corner

The nice thing is that you can get a classic at a reasonable price..

As far as Supras, 951's and Rx-7 TT's.. they are all awesome cars but if you want heavy hitting streetable HP that rattles the car next to you check out a vette (I am a 951 owner - awesome car, it's fast too but nothing compared to a 500+HP vette)

I know I will get flamed for this but honesty can be hard to swallow for some people.

MD - I really like how you put that, "rattles" the car next to you. That's for sure, but after I am 100 yards ahead of them by 120 mph, I can barely hear them rattling anymore.

as i stated before, to the originator of the thread, the 951 isn't for you, get a rustang or crapmero, cheap power that goes straight.

I agree that vette's are one of the best bang for the buck cars. You can pick up a 93 - 95 LT1 for under $15k with a 6-speed. Dump another $5k into the motor and your easily over 500 reliable rwhp.

I'd prefer to do the same thing to a 928S4. But the vette is still worth considering, much cheaper parts. One drawback like special tool said, they do rattle the crap out of you.

For non vette people, I didn't include the 96 model year since that is the year the LT-4 motor was available, 30 more hp. The LT-1 was still available, but in automatic only.

Default get the

If the most bang for your buck is your goal then I suggest the supra. modern suspension, and a couple thousand dollars can have you running 12's. 951's have huge potential but are expensive, parts wise and labor. I would get the supra because of incredible aftermarket support and cheap used and new parts.

the z is a awesome car but heavy and looks like they shoehorned the engine in there. Hard to work on. Look forward to pulling the engine out a few times.

Except for the extra 400lbs on the Supra . I'd love to make a mid-engined 951 with the SupraTT's motor. Then carry over the double-wishbone suspension as well... That would make for a formidable drag-strip and road-racing car...

Excuse me, I dont find that funny. Me and my entire family are Amish, do not ever joke about that again. And because we are Amish doesnt mean that we do not understand technology. Watch what you say on a public forum.

We have a high Amish population in NE Ohio, and having been up there many times and spoken with many, I have always thought that the Amish were strict about anti-tech, ie: no cars, phones, computers, etc.

Are there different degrees of Amish-ness?

Not trying to be rude, just trying to comprehend here. Thanks!

Just because they don't use a lot of the modern technology, doesn't mean they don't understand it. Also there's a "coming out" where the kids gets to choose which lifestyle they want, so no, they're not limited to one way of being only.
