The kits start at $8,000. I'm not sure what options are available. Tim Murphy is the guy to talk to, he's on Rennlist.

The best thing about the kits are the car is a complete sleeper. Nobody expects that kind of power from a 928. Here is one of the threads about Tim's personal car that was the prototype:

the grey supra in the picture has 710rwhp and the only bike that has left me in the dust was a moded hayabusa, granted from a roling start

He did say "handles". A Supra won't keep up with the bike on corners.

Depends on the driver on each vehicle more than the vehicle. A car/bike is only as fast as the abilities of the driver/rider.

I have never ridden nor do I have any desire to get a bike. Therefor, no bike is going to be faster than any car I've ever owned if all I care about is how I'm going to perform owning it.

I think you just answered your own question. The 951 can exceed 400plus but, as everyone already stated, will take much more $$$. For cheap easy horsepower you're probably better off with the Supra or possibly the Z. Even cheaper to move over to Camaro or Mustang. Basically if you even had to ask, already suggested by others, the 951 is probably not for you.

If your going to go that extreme, check lap times from Road America from this year. Nothing short of a CART/CHAMP car or Vintage Can-Am car can match the lap times of the super bikes. Maybe the ALMS Audi's, we will see this weekend.

1 MATHEW MLADIN SUZ 1:35.320
2 MIGUEL DUHAMEL HON 1:36.073
3 NICKY HAYDEN HON 1:36.270

You can see this is NOT F1 or anything like that
1 - Michael Galati, N. Olmstead, Ohio, Audi S4 Comp.,
1:34.373, 86.134mph
2 - Johannes van Overbeek, Danville, Calif., Porsche 911 Cup, 1:34.647, 85.885
3 - Randy Pobst, Melbourne, Fla., Porsche 911 Cup, 1:34.718, 85.821

Here is ALMS
1. Capello, Kristensen Audi R8 1.14.537
2. Magnussen, Brabham Panoz 1.14.910
3. Biela, Pirro Audi R8 1.15.150

7. Weaver, Leitzinge Riley&Scott 1.16.551

Car's are faster also those bikes will slaughter these car's in a strait line so the only places the cars can make the diffrence is "braking" and "in the bends"......... Notice they are 911 cup car's are posting faster laps...

I have to throw my .02 here. For a four banger, we can get mad power. Supras have sixes. Even then, I've taken 600rwhp Supras with my car. Their turbos are so big, they don't get efficient untill at least 5000rpm. On a roll, entering an entrance ramp, I straight kicked this Supra's *** with Said hp. I will say this though, when that thing kicked in, it kicked in but I was already doing 140mph before he even started to catch up to me. We were about neck and neck at about 180mph and his car started to kinda wobble. I even moved into the next lane cause it looked so unstable. I outpulled him again to 190mph. After the race, we stopped to talk and cool our adrenalin down. His turbo was at least three times the size of mine and his engine was just damn beautiful. He said he had some suspension work done but at 180mph the car felt just like it looked. I only have Koni Yellows and stiffer springs and torsion bars. I'm saying this cause someone mentioned our cars can't handle like the Supras at high speed. I know I can drive with one hand up to my top speed of 194.
My point is our cars can hang and even outperform Supras. There's always gonna be someone faster and the last time I got spanked...the only time so far... was by a Supra. To be honest, it made me look like an AMC Pacer. They can be fast, just like ours can be. Apples to apples though, we have four cylinders, not six. On top of that, no supra is ever going to outhandle a 951 without major mods to the suspension. Even then, minor suspension upgrades to a 951 will still outperform any Supra suspension. Way too heavy and long. Apples to apples again, I'll get a 911, take it to Powerhaus and get 900 hp out of it and go head to head with any Supra, straight line or track, which a supra would never compete, and kick the daylights out of it. Yes, I know a couple of them out there in Florida are pulling over 1,000 to the wheels but a 911 can easily get to 2400 lbs vs. 3600lbs for the Supra and will NEVER outhandle a Porsche. Then there are the Crazy Supercharge systems for the 928's but I'm gonna stop. I tend to babble when I'm tired. Sorry.

For the record, I have never been on a motorcycle, nor do I want to, but your point of view on this topic is a little skewed.

Your trying to compare ALMS cars to Street cars? 4 "fatty" tires, how about weight? You forgot that point.

Since I couldn't find lap times for this year, here are lap records
Superbike Road America:
Matthew Mladin posted a fastest lap of 2:09:068 on 6/8/01
Fastest lap for the race was at 110.6 mph on 6/9/02

250 Grand Prix class, this is from 2002 but you get the point:
Rich Oliver posted a 2:15:9653 at 105.9mph 6/8/02
This year's results are not comparable since I think AMA ran a different track configuration for the first time this year. Previous years there was no difference.

August 1-3 the Speed GT was at Road America. See the results. One thing you obviously don't realize or understand is there is not clear cut answer to car vs bike. The track, driver, conditions play a big part. Race conditions for the Speed GT this particular weekend were PERFECT. It did rain Sunday afternoon for the CART race, that was 28 hours after these times were posted:

BMW M3 - 2:18:433 105.269mph
BMW M3 - 2:18:767 105.016mph
Audi RS6 - 2:19:143 104.732mph
BMW M3 - 2:19:165
911 Cup - 2:19:209
Viper - 2:19:787
ZO6 - 2:19:958

Doesn't look much like a slaughter to me.

You bring up the ALMS, well last years times are still posted. I'm not going to bother with the prototypes, no kidding they are faster.

Fastest in GTS: Corvette C5R - 2:03:812 @ 116.305mph
Slowest in GTS: Viper - 2:09:934 @ 110.825mph

If you think any of the cars in this class are based on street cars, your sadly mistaken. How about GT class? These are somewhat street based:

Fastest in GT: 911 GT3 RS - 2:12:862 @108.383mph
Slowest in GT: 911GT3 RS - 2:23:264 @100.514mph

Slaughter huh? Get your facts straight. Different tracks will have different results. There is not clear cut answer. The times you post for the Audi S4's and 911 cup cars are within 2 seconds of the bike's at Mid-Ohio. Hardly a "slaughter" Track conditions and ground temp could cause that type of difference.

This thread was started by someone looking for advice on street cars. Yes I do realize the bike times I posted are not street either.

How about cost?
Suzuki Hyaybusa Turbo Kit - About $7,000 - $10,000. The bike? Under $20,000.
911 GT3 - Kelly Moss has a 911 GT3 RS - $235,000

This whole conversation is kinda pointless since the starter of this thread is looking for advice on a new car to buy.

This is also supposed to be a "friendly" forum. Terms like "stupid" and "shut-up" don't belong here.

Before calling somebody stupid, why don't you read a Physics book.
Wow a car has twice as many tires. And they're 5-10cm wider. Have you ever heard of inertia? A supra weighs around 3500lb. A honda CBR 1100 weighs 492lb. Even you can figure out that that's a factor of 7!! So to maintain as much traction around a corner, a supra would have to have 3.5 times as much grip per tire! Not a chance. Then there are the more complicated factors, like tire roll: a supra's tires are going to roll onto the outside (with respect to the corner) sidewalls, a motorcycle is designed to take a tight corner on the inside sidewall. A supra has its center of mass outside of two of the tires (which creates the body roll), a bike has its center of mass inside of the tires. And that's just traction.
Cornerining is improved by a tight turning radius, where a car can't match a bike. A CBR has a 58.5" wheelbase. The supra turbo has a 100.4" wheelbase.
I'd like to see a Supra take a 180-deg. hairpin as quickly as a sport bike.

Next time you decide to make yourself look like an idiot (excellent job on that by the way), try to be a little more polite about it.

There are probably some cars out there (maybe F1 cars) that can keep up with a bike, but not a street legal supra.

Hacker-Pschorr, my statement was made with the assumption that both vehicles would be driven to their potential.

Guys - you cant compare lap times between a bike and a car if the question was "hang in the corners". Common knowledge that any reasonably well set up street car will smoke any bike IN THE CORNERS. The bikes make up in the lap times because of accel and deccel.

A motorcycle has to use a much wider line through any given corner to match speed with the sportscar. If a bike and car enter the same corner at the same speed, the car can maintain a tighter line while the bike will drift wide.

Sport Rider magazine in 1994 ran a CBR900 against corvette ZR1. The bike was much faster accelerating and achieved higher velocities down the straights. The corvette, was faster through the corners and entered the corners later than the bike.

The bike will turn faster lap times than most street cars, but can't hold a candle to CART or F1 machines.

Sorry, ag951, but you're wrong.
