Default A/C Mounting Bolt Info Please

One of the things the mechanic spotted last week was a missing A/C bolt. This is the one that goes thru the alternator bracket ( I think that'swhat it is)

Does anyone know what size and thread this is? Is it a nut/bolt assembly or does it thread into the rear part of the bracket?

I busted another alt belt today because without this bolt, the A/C compressor doesn't stay aligned.

Well the mechanic told me its a two inch bolt with a 1 3/4 thread. I just got mine fixed yesterday because the AC compressor was just hanging there by the belt causing my belts to screech. Hope this helps

Shouldn't it be metric? Or is the A/C a US add-on?

He gave it to me in inches. But I think basically, he tapped the thing and then threaded it through. I'm just going on what he told me.

There are 2 bolts that hold the AC unit to the engine. One of them is a 10mm (thread, 17mm head), has a 30mm non-threaded shoulder and is about 70~80mm overall legnth. Not sure of the thread pitch, but it's the common one for that size bolt. That's the one that fits in the front. The rear one is an 8mm thread, about 50mm long and threaded the whole way. Both thread directly into the AC housing (it's tapped) so no nuts required (er.. heh, nevermind. ) Hope this helps, but why didn't your mechanic just replace the damn thing when he saw it?

I was get a "post purchase inspection" He did fix a couple of other things.

It's only because I am replacing my fans and shroud today that I am able to reach in there to replace it.

Thanks very much for the size info. just what I needed.
