Default Transmission Change

I know how you guys feel about projects like this and because of the cost and size, but I was wondering has anyone ever changed from an automatic to manual transmission and know of the parts list /time/labor/obstacles I am looking at? So much money has been spent on the car between owners, probably three times what the car is worth so what’s a few thousand (or less if I can get good used parts) more to keep a classic alive, if it is do able.

Should be possible. I parted out an 86 automatic and found not much difference between the manual and the stick as far as the transmission area is concerned. Think the cross mount for the trans is the major difference but the basic mounting points looked the same.

Both axles are different -- ones shorter and the other longer. Didn't look to see if the blind bolt holes for the shift lever are in the front. Most likely are.

I've was told the torq tube is the same. You will have to replace the flywheel and get all the clutch linkage and stuff. Maybe a complete bell housing out of a stick. Also the clutch master cylinder.

Don't know if the master brake cylinder has the barb on the side to feed the clutch cylinder. Think the clutch pedel is a bolt in. You will need the assist spring assembly too. Other wise you have to be superman to push in the pedel!

I can say from experience that putting a clutch in an automatic 55 chevy was easier.

Now that I think of it, I should have most of the part that would be needed. Let me know If I could help you.
