Default Early 924S/944

Hey what is with the different colors or gauges in the 924S and 944. Some are white and some are yellowish. Also was the mpg indicator on the tach an option? my 924S doesnt have it...can i just swap gauges or is there extra wiring?
Thanks!
Erich

You are right- No MPG on the 924S. IMHO I like the white on black sooo much better than the yellow. there is an extra connection for the MPG meter in the 944 guage plug- I dont know if it's wiring is present in the 924S.
AFIK- the rest is just a pull- out and plug in swap.

But...i just saw a 924S with the black on white gauges with the mpg indicator. It didnt make any sense to me cause the car didnt have a sunroof or perhaps not even a factory radio but it had this gauge.
Does anyone know if you need an extra wire or is it present in the 924S?
Thanks!

My 924s has a MPG gauge and an upshift light. I think it's a "normal" one.

Mine has white on black gauges.

There is a sensor on the speedo assembly which connects to the tachometer. I think that's all thats required.

So whats up with my car having the upshift light and not the mpg indicator? Is my car odd? Thanks!

my 87 924 had the light and mpg gauge. I swapped them in to my 84 944 race car and relocated the tach to the center hole.

Maybe a set of gauges from another "donor" car with a lower odometer reading?

A USA only feature to have the MPG and upshift?

I can't imagine that they would make that an option - I would only imagine that MAYBE a 160-170MPH speedo was an option.

Post a picture.

But Erich, what you have so irresponsibly neglected to tell everyone is that your car is A New Zealand special M0u812, 1978 edition.

Glade you asked, Erich - it also includes: a huge Bazooka "homeboy" edition bass tube, a leather covered wheel, a larger rear spoiler and really red ricer brakes
