Use a wet journal turbo dry ?
Hi,
I've a TO4E that i wish use for my projet, but the CHRA has holes for water cooling.
My goal is to remove all the water system for the turbo, is it safe to remove it and run the turbo dry despite the possibility to run it wet ?
Purpose is track car and few street with good cooling before engine stop.
Is it possible too to do the same on stock K26/8 ?
Regards,
Phil.

you can alway call a turbo rebuilder and ask. Evergreen turbo was always happy to answer my questions about my k26.
But people on here have done it and i dont think any of them have complained about their turbos

I've used my wet turbo as dry for years and haven't had any problems as of yet
I think the 944 may be luckier than other cars in this respect since the turbo is on the opposite side of the car? Just lay off the boost for the last few miles home.

Absolutely, just make sure to let your engine running a few minutes after spirited drive, on my two 350rwhp 951's I uses dry turbos less plumbing less leaks
