Default Stripping/painting shocks without disassembly?

I've had my M030 shocks rebuilt and am not happy with the quality of the paint job. I believe the shocks were dismantled, blasted, then assembled and painted.

Is it a bad idea to have them repainted without taking them apart? I'm not sure if media blasting would be risky and/or if they had to be baked afterwards whether the heat would be a bad idea.
