Hi all,

Since my last post where i described a noise ive narrowed it down to the engine , it only accurs over 2000 rpm and its intermittent, the best way to describe it is like a drone from a hoover really. Anyhow dont feel any loss of power or anything .
oh and it happens more after rapid acceleration and when engine warm.

Cars a 1991 944 Turbo (UK specs)
Please please please help before its tooo late !!

back in the early '90s Porsche posted a bulletin to all dealers related to the oil pressure relief valve and changed the design slightly. The noise you are hearing is probably that valve. Probably not a requirement as long as it isn't bothering you.

Anyone else change the oil pressure relief valve to cure this noise?

Ok more news on the noise cos its really starting to unsettle me !!

It happens more after a steady run at steady pace on say the motorway (freeway ) . Its usaually triggered on deceleration when the engine revs drop back and then when they are raised above 2000 rpm the noise comes back ... is it really the oil relief valve doing this as referred to in ealier postings .. wouldnt a 91 951 have this part updated anyway ????

There is a short length of exhuast tube from the turbo (I think), This has a lining that comes loose.

Anyone with a turbo want to pick up on this?
