Think of it this way. What size is the fuse governing the whole lamp system......? 15A if I remember! And that's absolute max!

Joel, the plastic stick-ons may cut down on light transmission, talk to 3M to see how much.

But there is no larger draw on your electrical system. What goes into the front of the "pipe" goes in. What comes out at the end is the issue as with poor wiring the current gets siphoned off as resistance heat. You just waste it. A rewire trys to make that waste as small as reasonable. You can't put on 4 foot diameter cables.

As what to spend on lenses, well that is up to you. Some people buy clothes from K-Mart and seem happy enough.

IIRC, each headlight filament gets a 7.5A fuse in series 2 944s.

And the full current goes through the switches....

If I get them, it will be to protect the $250 8" lights on the 928, light output won't be the issue.

Oh, I thought your kits used higher wattage bulbs comapred to stock? I'm saying if I went with higher wattage bulbs, which would require upgrading the marginal wiring harness, I'd just be wasting energy. Naturally there is a point at which lighting becomes overkill, as well as a drain on your alternator and an annoyance to other drivers. If I can see perfectly well with 120 watts (or even less given the resistance of the stock wiring) I don't see a reason to go to 200 watts.

Joel, yes, I do go overwatt with the full kits than can carry the current. I guess I misunderstood you. With the stock wiring you can see 15% to 30% voltage drops fairly easy. Some folks think that since only 11 volts are coming out at the end that is all they are taxing the electrical system. Just wanted to make sure you understood this, which you apparently do. Some guys can darn near toast bread next to the wiring.

The other issue is age of the driver. You need a lot more light the older you get. 40 is usually the downfall age. By 70 you better start interviewing the local bats as helpers with their radar.

Id buy the IceShark kit, but Im nuclear stupid and would never be able to install them (and do it right no less without catching my car on fire or breaking every piece of the kit).

Im the guy who has to remind himself that its "righty tighty and lefty ofty" whenever I grab a screwdriver.

Maybe someone here would help put em in for me for a case of Budweiser.

Not too difficult, just time consuming (except getting to the alternator for a Turbo car - NA is easy).
