Default Missing bolt on steering system and transmission??

I just got my 1982 RHD 944 2.5NA about 1 month ago, today I jack up the car for transmission fluid change. I inspected everything under the car and found 2 empty holes, one on steering system and another one on transmission.

Am I missing a bolt on this hole? Or is this normal?

RHD steering system

Transmission

Thank you!

The rack hole is for the centering tool for alignment, it should be capped off or plugged somehow to keep crud out of the rack. If you do not have the factory tool you can use a front sight pusher for an AK47.

You want to cap that steering hole asap. If dirt gets in and scratches the steering gear, leaks will soon follow.

As stated in previous post, you use that hole to center the steering rack during installation. When the steering rack is centered, you can see a divot in the steering gear through that hole. You then take a tapered bolt (about 3 bucks from paragon) and screw it in to keep the steering gear in that position while you reconnect it to the car. After installation, bolt is removed and replaced with plastic screw in plug.

Edited: It's not factory fitted. The PS reservoir is bolt on the car, not welded on like it should be.
