Default A 280 pound lady in a Turbo Eclipse...

...handed me my *** on a silver plate

It was terrible. She was about 2 car lengths ahead of me by 50 mph! Not only once but TWICE! She said she just got a new BOV that day. Man I need to start on my mods! Quick! Her car was a newer Eclipse Turbo Spider. I would like to find out the specs for that car. I could hear her turbo spool at 2500 she had nearly NO turbo lag. That was no fun! I need to find some civics to make me feel better.

Anyone else wanna share their embarrassing stories?

Hers? or Mine? I just got a new SAAB RC valve today as mine was shot (it was dead when this all happened). Although it didn't make a difference with my new one.

I don't know about her mods... Just the BOV...

If she was stock, you'd have beat her. They take some mods just to stay even with us, in my experience at least.

Does Mitsu even make a Turbo Eclipse Spyder? I was looking on their site and they don't mention anything about turbo??

Maybe she DID mod the hell outta it!! Seemed so... It would have done 0-60 in like 4.9 it seemed!

Hmmmm.... Is it just a case of false advertising? Because it all looked stock! No ricer wings, no fart can exhaust, no stickers?

Man talk about the sucker punch!!

When I was in high school, I got embarrassed by an old man in an early 60's truck. I had a girl in the car, and was showing off. My Chevelle SS ran 12.8 on BF Goodrich Radial T/A's. It was pretty quick in 1988. At any rate-being a goof, I bounced the car next to this beat up old truck with probably a 60 year old man in it.

Then he bounced-so I opened the car up-and saw him leave. Over the girl's laughter, I found out he was an old drag racer that had put a well built 427 in his farm truck for fun. Boy, did I look cool that night...

I still miss that car-but being able to turn and stop is a lot more fun.

Haha...
Glad I didn't have any girls in my car... I would have died! The more I think about it, she must have put the turbo on her car recently and picked me to try it out on... (pretty sure the car was an '03)

Hehe yeeeeah! I would like them on my side... However, most civics aren't getting insane HP like that from the 6 foot wing and racing stripes!! Most around here are stock except for K&N cold air (pffft) and a "custom" cat back exhaust. Some even go as far as replacing the engine to gain 43 hp! Wow! This was the case with about 3 kids on my street... They thought they could box with Porsche... (My car is stock too . But won't stay that way for long!!)

Something about that dyno chart doesn't look right to me...it looks like one continuous pull from 30 mph - 120... since when is HP/TQ dependent on your speed? The only way I could believe that pull is if it was done in one gear - that's a tall gear! If that were the case, 5252 rpm would HAVE to be at about 75 mph... so it looks like the thing is turning 9000 rpm (believable), and doesn't make power until around 7500...

Also, what's this STD Horsepower? Did they forget to SAE correct the measurements?

current eclipses don't have factory turbos but the 95-99 convertables could be gs (non-turbo) or gs-t (turbo). both were fwd

Spyder convertibles debuted during the spring of '96, in GS and GS-T form. Whereas the GS coupe used a Chrysler 140-horsepower, 2.0-liter engine, the GS Spyder adopted a 2.4-liter engine that made 141 horsepower. The GS-T Spyder, like the higher-performance coupe, got a turbocharged Mitsubishi-built 2.0-liter, rated at 210 horsepower. Both Spyders included a power top with a glass rear window and electric defroster, plus power windows and door locks.

Yeah she did something to that car!!! 210 on a heavy convertable frame...
Must have costed alot to beat me While I won't have to do that much to keep up with her

Default turbo rice

my friend had a gsx turbo eclipse, with a huge *** turbo (like the specs) , but that foo ghetto rigged everything, he even had emptied a acetone container, and used it as a reseviour for the radiator "sprayers" he made, so he could accually drive the car in las vegas. He used sheet metal stripping to hold the intercooler on hella crooked n ****. i mean, his car ran low 12's high 11's (i think it was low 11's , high 10's but that could be my ****ed up memory making things up) so he did alot of mods but that **** broke every single day n **** . oh well

i don't really see why it would be. the blocks can take it so just add more fuel and air. air = turn up boost, fuel = bigger injectors and/or fuel pump and safc to tune it
