Default Need some advice to fix Overheating DME!

My DME Is overheating, and it is causing the car to stutter after about 1 hour driving. What could be causing it? Any ideas?

Did you open it? You might have shorted it.

Are you running stock injectors?

Beef up the ground internally. People have said that it dumps to much juice and heats up. I've seen pictures of the trace lifting off the board.

I think Chris924S re-worked his. He might have ebtter info.

Be sure your engine grounding points are OK. If not you get grounded via DME (which causes heat) . Fix the problem otherwise you will fry your DME box soon!

Yeah, BS was fighting this problem for several months last year. Found out that the grounds on the engine block was bad and the current was flowing through the DME to get to the grounds on the firewall on the inside of the car. Ended up frying a couple of DMEs in testing to find this problem. Luckily all it required was to clean up the block grounds and replace the fried ground traces on the circuit board with a wire to fix. But you need to find the source of your problem first. I think he hooked up an voltmeter in series with the ground wire to measure current-flow and found that something like 10+ amps was flowing through his DME....
