Default Need bleeding clutch advice

I want to bleed my slave cylinder.

I have a motive bleeder that I used on my old 911. I need to find where I stored the thing, but assuming it fits on the brake fill canister, do I just hook a clear tube up tot he slave cylinder, pressurize the motive bleeder and then crack the bleed screw and watch for bubbles? Do I have to pump the clutch pedal if I do it this way?

Hook it up to the brake master cyl and then pressurize, keep the master cyl pretty full while you do it. The bleed the clutch, i like to do a few passes with the pump and hold after i do the pressure bleed just to be sure.

This type of thing worked awesome for me on the clutch & brakes this winter, better than a vaccum bleeder. http://www.screwfix.com/p/laser-brak...ding-kit/18911

I checked my brake fluid just to verify the motive bleeder fit and it does, but I noticed the brake fluid was blue. Anyone got an idea what brand is in there? PO had the brakes redone but I can't find any info on fluid. I don't want to mix the wrong types.

That's probably the old Super Blue fluid, which is no longer blue to due to some very helpful government regulation.

I find it helps to use the Motive and a MityVac together. Put the motive on the master, and the MityVac on the slave. With pressure on top, pull a vacuum on the slave and open the bleeder. Then close the bleeder, pull a vacuum again and open agian. Repeat... Works a bit better then either alone.

Yes, bleed the clutch slave just as you would a brake caliper. Be careful with your 7 mm. wrench: you're working next to a large, unfused +12 wire to the starter. Flush the fluid thoroughly, more than just looking for bubbles.

The bleed valve is available as a replacement part if yours is old and corroded, altho not shown on the parts fiche. I can look up the p/n if helpful.
