Default Broken part - inside 968 door handle - do I have a big problem?

Hi!

As the drivers side door in my '93 968 CS only could be opened from the inside, some work had to be done.... Found out that the reverse lever was broken and had to be replaced. Long story short, to remove the lever from the door handle, a pin has to be taken out. That didn't work out very well.... :-/

Please see the attached pictures, anyone seen/experienced this before? Can this be fixed or do I need a new door handle?

(Picture nr 1 shows the broken part in its right place)

I had success with metal epoxy on a handle, however it was the lug that holds the lock cylinder which sees less load than this one. If your feeling spicy you could try it but it may not work as well.

You can just buy the outer piece for about $100. It will need to be painted.

OK, thanks. If the outer piece is available for around $100 it sounds like a good solution

+1 for Arominus. The dog leg transfers most of the pressure from the handle trigger down through the dog leg to the main door lock lever.

Once you get in there and ease the mechanisms up by cleaning and re-greasing everything, the pressure isn't very much, but I'd hate for the dog leg to come off a few months down the road and leave you locked out.

Not much fun at all, so definitely worth the $100 or so for the fix.

Also you'll be getting to know the handle mechanism and lock cylinders much better as you're there - always a good thing. That's the part I first started with on my own 944 and I went back in there several times because something wasn't 100% so it kept on niggling until I finally got it fully sorted. And since then I've been into most of the other systems in the car and have found that the same is pretty much true everywhere.
