What activates the light in our engine bay?

Another factor that may affect it is the hoo shocks. At times on my cars I have notice that I have to push the hoo up or jiggle it a bit for the light to come on. (Watch that the corners of the hoo on't break the winshiel on later cars though.)

It looks to me like you have a broken "d" key.
