Default watch the rain and count your blessings

so my girlfriend this weekend totaled her car driving in the rain.... with me driving immediately behind her. talk about scary, she was legitimagely goin too fast for road conditions and just skidded out on a sharp turn, hit jersey barriers on both sides of the road and was lucky to walk away (well, ride away in my 944).

Scariest part was actually after the accident, there was no shoulder at all and we were standing in the fast lane of I-95 around a blind turn in the rain at night. Honestly a rig came within 6" or so of not making the lane change in time to get out of the fast lane, had he not made it he would have have plowed my car into her car into the two of us, with nowhere to run but into a concrete wall.

anyway, just makes you stop to think, with all the "go faster" talk, and all i enjoy about cars in general its easy to forget what really matters, not geting yourself or others hurt. just a reminder to us all, the cars are only fun if we're alive to enjoy them, so slow it down, and don't be cheap on the tires.

and by the way, my cell phone through cingular wireless failed to make a 911 call on their network twice, though i was able to make other calls. i called the next morning and am switching providers, i advise you all to do the same.

pictures attached for those interested... 1 2 3

Must have been a surreal event--you watching the accident and all. Glad you are both OK.

You REALLY need one of those emergency kits w/road flares and blinking hazzard lights inside--for moments like that! (come to think of it, I really need one too)

Glad to hear everyone's ok.

Nice red flower seat covers in your gf's car! Will it fit your 951's seats?!?
