I'm installing my porsche cd-1 player back in my car and the foam? thing attached to the wires has deteriorated.

What should I use to remove the foam stuff and where can I find a replacement? Do I even need it? Should I use crazy glue to attach the new foam thing? Thanks in advance!!

Well, i don't know what it is, but don't used crazy glue.... it will eat away at the foam... that would be a bad idea....

looks like those are power wires.. maybe a fuse in the foam thingy
i would leave it in

In there may be a ferrite - a pice of metalic material that blocks (electrical) noise - keep the box - forget about the foam

The foam is only to remove the rattle noise that occure when the whole car shakes (from the motor running). Just put a piece of foam around it.

btw. the unit is a Noise filter. It filters high frequency spikes out form the power supply to the CD. Otherwise there could be som noise from the Ingnition going into the radio/CD.
