Default Rod bearings & Piston rings: what to look for

I've just ordered a load of parts to replace my Piston rings (lousy oil control ring ) and I thought I'd do the rod bearing while I'm in there.

I've got the procedure off of Tech-session, and I also have the Factory manuals (although I have left the Turbo supplement in the UK... Doh)

I'll be adding in the LR breather kit and exhaust at the same time, so the cooler housing is coming off also! (and yes, I have bought the guide tool)

Is there anything in particular I should look out for, or can someone suggest any useful tips which wil help me to do these?

Thanks all.

the oil control rings were installed backwards on some of the sets that were sent to the mechanic that did the work on my motor. this was last month, so the batch may be the same.

dont exactly know how to tell the difference, maybe someone with actual experience can help.
