mind including a wiring diagram? I could see myself doing that pretty easily. I assume that kit would work on an 87 as well...

Great setup! Can you tell us where to you got the door lock actuators (and maybe the other parts)? Were these mail-ordered? What did you use for the rods between the actuators and the existing door lock assemblies?

On the early cars, were there power door locks? How were they implemented?

Was there a momentary switch in the center console? I know you can buy blank on/off switches, but I don't know if you can get a blank momentary switch.

I also wonder if the setup could be modified so that when you turned the key in the driver's side doorlock, the power locks would lock/unlock the doors.

More information, please! Looks great so far. Just doing some brainstorming.

aww geeze i frogot the wiring diagram here it is:

well a buddy of mine has a wholesale license and goes to this one place that had a lot of car stereo stuff and i saw the actuaters there and relays so thats where i got those.

89magic98 on my car i had only a manuel locking system no switches in the console or anything im sure you could wire it in to when the car is started shouldnt be too difficult.

any other questions i could answer?

Very nice! I've seen this talked about before but it's cool that someone did it (and pretty easily too!) and others can too..too bad I already have power locks! My project is gonna be wiring in a keyless entry..I don't trust my car to some kid in a stereo shop to do it right...

Do the actuaters have any brand info on them, I am sure we could find similar items online, just maybe not for that low of price Nice job!

red9four4,

Nice job, and thanks for sharing. It really would be a nice thing to have power locks in the 944. I know that folks have already asked about where to source the actuators, and I will await that info also. But just for anyone who needs relays for this or any other job, the best place I have found them mail order is at Sherco Auto

I don't work for them, but I have bought all kinds of stuff from them and they have some of the best prices out there. They don't gouge for shipping either. Nice that you can get not only the relays from them, but also the plug-in harness for the relay. Makes jobs that much easier and cleaner.

I installed a power lock set my dad ordered from JC whitney (yech!) in the late 80's but never used. I think he paid $20 for the set which included actuators, relays, brain, and a switch (all though I don't use the switch...its mad ugly and looks like it came from an 80's ford van). It took an afternoon to install but was pretty self explainatory and works like a charm (both locks are actuated by the driver's side lock/key).

Doing a quick Google search I found this place as a potential source of the actuators by mail order. Actuators

I have never dealt with them before, but $10 for an actuator with hardware seems pretty good.
