Factory AC Delete question

Default Factory AC Delete question

Hi,

I have a friend with an aftermarket AC Delete and he recently destroyed his alternator by tightening the belt too much. If I delete the factory AC, and go with the OEM bracket, do you still have to play around with the tension on the alternator belt? How does the OEM belt fit?

You always have to play with the tension of the alt belt. i prefer aftermarket. Thats what i have. like you said your friend destroyed (LOL) his alternator by over tighten the belt. OEM belt will not fit as it for OEM LOCATION. just take a piece of string measure and go to your nearest auto parts store.

Belt tension strut is still used with the a/c delete. Tension is fairly high, if i remember right around 4mm of belt deflection.

Proper belt is a K6x720; 6 rib, 720mm length.

thanks to my unwillingness to change the motor mounts again, after a few thousand miles, my engine shook my rs barn 968 delete kit strut so violently, it finally frigging broke [on my trip from San Antonio to Daytona last March/2013]. belt was a bit loose but I made it about 480 miles down the road with the tensioner bar busted... H2O pump also leaked the whole trip, and 16 miles from my destination, it went [completely]. drove into Ryan Kennedy's shop [in Holly Hill] with coolant pouring out.... and he points at the broken strut.... "yeah, the belt screeched for about the last 8 hours."
