Default Remove brake dust shield for cooler temps ?

I was told to remove my front brake dust shields behind the rotors to help get air to the intake of the cooling fins within the rotors. Then someone posted 200 deg. higher temps when he did just that. Keep in mind this is track conditions and nothing to do with normal street use.
Any other fellow DE'rs or racers experiences with removing this shield? I would like to remove them just so its easer to run my tow straps through the wheel between the rim and disk, but not if the penalty is hotter brakes. Thanks for any feedback.

I have no data, but I would expect higher temps without the shield, the brakes are really a squirrel cage fan, the air intake is near the center, the exhaust is at the rims, without the shield, I would think the turbulent air flow would mess up the intake and exhaust flow from the fan
