Default Tire Size Question - will they fit?

I picked up a set of Turbo Twist rims from a Boxter to put on my '87 944, fronts are 7 x 17 ET55, rears are 8.5 x 17 ET50. My intention is to mount 205/50/17s on the front and 255/40/17s on the rear.

Can anyone tell me if this rim/tire combination fit in the fender wells without having to roll them?

They'll fit no problem.
You should have a few cm's of clearance still even.

Plan on putting a 7mm (1/4") spacer on the front hub. The shoulder of the front hub is rounded and the inside of the wheel is not, causing an interference so the wheel won't fit fully in the hub. I had to do this on my '87 n/a when installing my Cayman wheels. If in doubt do a trial fit and see if the wheel rocks slightly when trying to get it to fit over the lugs.
