Belts + Front seals - tool question.
I am doing the ol' belts + front seals job.
Anyway, Clarks-Garage specifies these "special" tools needed for the job:
1) P9201 Timing Belt Tension tool - I can just use the kriket tool from NAPA right?
2) P9200 Balance Shaft Pin Spanner - I understand one can just use needlenose pliers or something instead??
3) P9206 Flywheel Lock - ??? Can I use a generic (ie. cheaper) tool for this or no? I'm realllllly not interested in purchasing yet another damn 944 specific tool.
Any other special tools I should be aware of for this job?

I have not done this myself, but the wrench that does my belts uses some special very thin wrench on this job. Sorry I can't remember the size or bolt it applies to. One of the bolts must be difficult to get at with conventional tools. Perhaps someone else can shed a bit of light???

I did this job 2 month ago. The flywheel lock i made up from metal srap pieces, se this thread.

The Balance Shaft Pin Spanner, i use 2 bent valves with a screwdriver in between them, works fine to hold the balance shaft while removing or spanning the nut.
I used the Cricket/Optibelt tool, but ended up using Experience (feel) for the tensioning. But on the tune-uå i intend to use the tool for control.

BTW. I bought a seal kit, and it actually got 2 seals to much, difference in size i think. And dont forget the Shim washers on the balance shafts, the very thin tansperant shims int the sealing set.
AND Dont forget the Rubber O-ring on the oil pump shaft, its NOT normally included in the sealings Kit, but needs replacement when you'r in there. It's a 28 x 2,5 mm standart O-ring, under the washer on the cranck shaft to drive the oil pump.

Which seal kit did you use, the one from paragon or one from somewhere else? Anyone know if the Paragon kit includes the oil pump shaft ring?

Ah ok, I think I have the same seal kit.. from Germany anyway. I will be sure to order the other parts (shims and oil pump shaft ring). Do you recall the part# on those?
