Just that! Is there a commercially available insert? That's a pretty large hole! Some pics of what you guys have done would be cool too.

Its a standard single din opening so long as you get a chubby to throw under it.the chubby was stock on the non eq cars.

Yeah, just stick with a head unit and buy a cubby box. Kenwoods, and i'm sure others, come with a mounting frame. No adapter is needed. If you want actual control of your speakers and easy installation of the receiver you'll need the adapter kit from Crutchfield.

Snap I didn't know anyone made that.

I've always cut the connectors, crimp the wires, and call it a day...

The Blaupunkt Honolulu I am installing is old school and I found several vendors of the original wire harness plugs on ebay. I've wired that up to the factory wires because the (POS)PO cut the original wiring plug out of the car.

I think was are looking for the same thing. Does anyone have the manufacturer and or part number for aftermarket adapter / connector that plugs into the car-side wiring harness connector ?

The PO cut all the wires in my harness but left the connector dangling. I was able to reconnect the cut wires on my car-side wiring harness and now have a white connector that I want to attach to an aftermarket adapter / connector to use a new technology Bluetooth radio.

Not a bad thing

I never trust myself that close to the carpet, always afraid I'm afraid that I'm going to drop a ball of solder!

I've been doing a lot of soldering in the last couple weeks.

I just put a piece of wood under where I am soldering to protect the carpet, etc.

I dropped a couple and didn't notice any burns or anything. Then again, my carpet is black, so.

Just bought a 1988 Turbo S and the original radio was replaced with a Pioneer #DEH-p7700 MP with a Audiobahn amplifier. The installer did a terrible job for the previous owner. Loose wire behind the back seats on the shelf. I removed the amp and now I will be trying to remove all the bad wiring and tie the current radio into the stock speakers. The car was purchased with radio eq and hi fi speakers. Anyone have any recommendations???????????????

As to what exactly? How to remove the wiring? It'd be a whole lot easier to test for continuity and resistance to see if you have decent wiring or not first at least.

What's your big picture plan?

Hey, go to Crutchfield - I just replaced my old Blaupunkt cassette this week with an Alpine Digitial Media Receiver. Be sure to enter your car type on their website and they'll include the harness for free. The receiver amp has 50 amp embedded, and as I'm not an audiophile it sounds perfect. Hands free, bluetooth, etc and no cutting. The receiver fits like a glove and Crutchfield provides a wiring harness which keeps you from having to cut any OEM wires in your car. Below is my bill of materials with part numbers, and a photo of the receiver. I've got gauges in my amp slot. The white dust is not an eight ball that I lost control of Did the Hurricane PCA BBQ run this AM with about 26 other cars and we had the windows down and this crap blew in.
