Thumbs up '83 944 Window Relay - Solved!

I've been beating my head against the wall on this one; I find wiring diagrams...but can anyone give me a photo of where the Window Relay is on the '83 944!? I really hate to tarp it another night over something that seems so easy.

I found the flasher relay, check; DME, yes. Just...can't find...THAT!

I'd just rolled up my right window, was rolling up driver's side window, when it just STOPPED moving. So, yes. It fits relay issue.

I've gone through many grueling months of restoring this car, after AAA subcontracter nearly totaled her. I'm happy to say their procrastination led to their insurance paying for almost all I needed, except the kitchen sink.

Take the door panel off, and then remove the switch mechanism from the door. Then reconnect the switch to the wiring (basically how it was, but now it's just not mounted in the door panel) and test it. I've seen a few cases where the wires (which are held on the switch by friction) have just come loose and were only partially attached. The motor or switch could also be bad.

If you want to roll the window up and deal with it later, put 12v right on the motor.

I DID find the socket for the Window Relay. Vague reference led me to it. It has it's own socket ABOVE both tiers of regular relays, above #14 & 15 fuses. Skip a spot, it's directly ABOVE there. I had to use 2 fingers from each hand to jiggle old one loose. I did take a photo on my phone, for anyone who has this issue. It appears to be the original one, so it lasted 30 yrs.

Thanks, for the suggestions, Michael. People need to trouble shoot! I did pull out the switches, see if anything was loose, but to no avail.

Because it was affecting BOTH windows, it had to be the Relay.

Finding the correct part was my next PITA today, but I've got a swell Euro parts store here in City of Orange.

open the relay and inspect contacts and if it has solder joints, check them - it is probably an easy fix.

Thanks, William, I'll see if I can fix original for a backup! I'm soo not crawling under there for a $10 part!
