Zoltan, which of the pads mentioned will eat rotors? Besides the Hawk blues.

BTW Skip I found the Porterfields for $100/axle, $110 for the Hawk HP+'s.

Jabbadeznuts,
Which Mintex pad are you talking about? The m144? Not the standard red?

Adrial:
I don't have any personal experience with other pads, so I can't really say, but I've heard others have had issues with other brand pads. (And I forgot what brand they were talking about!) I just know that the KFP's are rotor friendly.

I can't remember why right now, but it's the Kevlar in the KFP Magnums that keep them very rotor friendly but still leave the HOG (Hand-Of-God) stopping power.

I use the KFP magnums on my 944 - really like them... and, they dust and squeal just like a good racing brake pad should Good cold friction, too!

So the KFP magnum's will stop better than stock when cold, and stop great and not fade on the track?

Downside is they'll squeel and dust. I've heard Zoltan's car and it doesn't sound too bad, I think I could deal with the noise.

Keep in mind im a newbie at the track, I've only done one DE....and a season and a half of autocross. So KFP's for me?

How much did you pay Zoltan/Skip? Where'd you get em from? Does Paragon sell the magnum gold?

thanks,
Adrial

we do, yes... look for carbon/kevlar brakes

Cold stopping is great - I haven't been able to make them fade on the track...yet They dust heavily on track, but not so bad on street (normal). Mine don't squeal once warm... they do howl a little when dead cold.

Wow, I must be braking WAY too much in my winky NA. I get about 4 track days out of the fronts. I also find they are pretty rotor-friendly. I am also quite pleased with them on the street when cold. The wife is a bit embarrassed by the "Dave's home!" squeal as I pull up, but I can live with that.

Hey Skip (very cool name BTW) - have you tried any other full race pads? If so how do the KFPs compare. I love the Hawk Blues but if I could go with something that is more rotor friendly with the same friction I would love it. You can literally feel the Hawks grinding away your rotors when you really get on them.

Hey other Skip! I can't remember ever driving a car with Hawks but I have driven some with other race pads such as Pagid Orange/Black and some PF's. The Pagids will eat a little rotor - especially the Blacks... I think I know the grinding feeling you're referring to. The KFP Magnums are very rotor friendly for me so far, and I've heard from other folks using them that they last a while without eating the rotors. Again, it's the Kevlar in them for some reason.

Thanks Skip #1. Do you feel that the KFP's have similar bite to the Pagids and the PF's?

Hard to compare apples-to-apples as two cars with the Pagids were 951's and the PF's were on a 964. But, yes, they are very similar - I've been completely satisfied with KFP's. Car is 86 944 with 2.7l at ~2600lbs - no abs.
